Expectations
It is in the interest of the forensic laboratory to offer training in the packaging and preservation of evidence to investigators and crime scene technicians. The investigator or technician comes to understand what the laboratory needs in terms of evidence packaging and documentation in order to maximize the potential of the evidence. This type of interplay helps to insure that the expectations of both sides are aligned. The laboratory has an opportunity to provide the investigator with a realistic set of expectations regarding laboratory capabilities and limitations.
