Welcome

Welcome to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation DNA training from the National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC). This information is provided to prepare you for your scheduled training, delivered by subject:

Subject 3 - DNA Extraction & Quantitation
Subject 4 - DNA Amplification
Subject 5 - Amplified DNA Product Separation
Subject 6 - STR Data Analysis & Interpretation
Subject 7 - Population Genetics & Statistics
Subject 8 - Communicating Results
Subject 9 - Other DNA Markers & Technologies

Reading assignments for each subject are outlined below. Please review this list and complete the required reading prior to the on-site training corresponding to each module. For specific questions about required readings please contact your Technical Leader.

Schedule

Plan to be at the training facility by 8 a.m. each morning during the on-site training sessions.
You will be notified via email for dates and times on online lectures.

Safety Manual

The Safety Manual and MSDS/Precaution documents are provided by your laboratory; you must be familiar with these documents to ensure that you have a clear understanding of the safety policy and procedures contained within.

Please obtain the Safety Manual from your technical leader.

Demonstration of Completion

Pre-training assignments are noted on the Demonstration of Completion form and are to be completed by the student. The student’s technical leader must sign the form, acknowledging completion of the required assignments.
Student must bring the signed form to each module of on-site training.
Training activities will be signed off by the NFSTC instructor.
